New Labels for Mastra

Illustration and label design for Mastra, Uruguay’s first craft beer.

I’ve been working with Mastra for many years, and every new challenge is another great opportunity to reconnect with the most exciting part of my work.

This project came after we updated Mastra’s visual identity—leaving behind a more rustic, handmade and artisanal aesthetic, and embracing a cleaner, more contemporary look that reflects the brand’s ongoing evolution. Because that’s what Mastra has always been about: experimenting, taking risks, and exploring new horizons.

With the new identity in place, the next step was to apply it to the brand’s most powerful and visible piece: the labels.

“The main challenge was to ensure that each beer continued to tell its own story, while maintaining the originality and diversity that have always defined Mastra’s products.”

Each variety is unique—born in a specific place, under particular circumstances—and all those variables made each one special. That’s why we worked with illustrated symbols that reference the origin of each style, bringing individual identity without losing visual cohesion across the whole range.

The result: a strong, character-driven family of labels that celebrates the essence of each beer while keeping its eyes on the future.
